These 4 days safari takes you to mgahinga gorilla national park where gold meets silver and a home to the two rare primates, gorillas and golden monkeys and therefore be sure to see golden monkeys in mgahinga and gorillas in Bwindi Forest national the ultimate gorilla experience. Bwindi has 15 family groups of gorillas and with trail heads.in these four days, you will also see the Batwa of bunyonyi hence learning about their behavior’s, how they make fire traditionally, making hand craft materials, traditional dances and many more.
Day 1: pick up and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park.
You will be picked up from Kigali International Airport/Any Hotel in Kigali to start your ‘3-day Uganda Gorilla Safari’ journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The journey is very scenic as it takes you through a country of ‘a thousand hills’ to ‘the Pearl of Africa, have city tour by visiting places like the Gisozi genocide memorial genocide to get some history on Rwanda’s culture.
You cross over to Uganda at chanika boarder with a stopover in kisoro town
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park.
After breakfast drive to the starting point and attend the early morning briefing at the park headquarters .the briefing covers various topics including what to expect ,the history of the forest what to pack, and how to manage your one hour with the primates but some of these highlights will be shared by the tour leader day before .this is the time when your passport |copy will be verified by the park authorities .and at the starting point, there will be porters for those who need support as they help you carry your bag as it will be having your lunch and drinking water, cameras and all needed items for tracking after being allocated to different gorilla groups ,you will be led into the forest to look for the primates .only 8 people may track a gorilla group in a day .the first task is to get to the starting point and this depends on the gorilla group you are assigned .if the e starting is close to the park offices, you will need to walk, however if it is far off, you will be taken by car, things are done differently these days .an advanced team of trackers is sent before the sun rises to identify the exact location of the gorillas .this advanced team is in constant communication with your ranger |guide by radio and lets him or her know which route to follow . gorilla experience takes about 4-5hrs depending on the location
As you find your way in the thick forest, the guide will share information about the park, the different species of plants, birds and primates. feel free to ask the guide and rangers questions about the things you do not understand. once you encounter the primates, you will only be allowed one hour with them. use the time to observe them eat, play, groom and breast feed. the dominant silver back will be observing your movements. With that in mind, stay calm, keep distance, do not touch infant or share directly into the eye of the gorilla. enjoy taking great photos of yourself with the primates.
Day 3 : Transfer to mgahinga national park for golden monkey trekking and transfer to lake bunyonyi
After breakfast, you will transfer to Mgahinga National Park headquarters for either full day golden monkey habituation experience or half day golden monkey trekking. You will be briefed about the dos and don’ts while with golden monkeys and then proceed to the mountain/forest for your trek. You will be allowed enough time with researchers if you choose to do golden monkey experience and only one hour if you choose to do golden monkey trekking. After one hour of experience with the monkeys, you will be led out of the forest and back to the starting point and transfer to lake Bunyonyi for an evening or sun set boat ride or hike to the community walk(optional) which takes about 3-4 hours
Day 4 : Transfer to Entebbe
After an early morning breakfast, transfer to Kampala with a stopover for lunch at the Ugandan equator, take photos and proceed to Entebbe for your flight in the evening and the trip ENDS or overnight at the hotel in Entebbe.
