Bwindi is located in south -western Uganda on the edge of the Albertine rift valley and it covers 331km2 and with bwindi you have an opportunity to trek habituated mountain gorillas and with great diversity of mammals and birds, The park is a sanctuary for colobus monkeys, chimpanzees, and many birds such as hornbills and turacos. It is most notable for the 400 Bwindi gorillas, half of the world’s population of the endangered mountain gorillas. 14 habituated mountain gorilla groups are open to tourism in four different sectors of Buhoma, Ruhijja, Rushaga and the Nkuringo in the Districts of Kanungu, Kabale and Kisoro respectively all under the management of Uganda Wildlife Authority.
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Bwindi impenetrable national park
You will be picked up from Kigali International Airport/Any Hotel in Kigali to start your ‘3 days Uganda Gorilla Safari’ journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The journey is very scenic as it takes you through a country of ‘a thousand hills’ to ‘the Pearl of Africa. The journey takes about 2 hours, arrive and check in at your place of accommodation.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking experience and batwa experience
take part in gorilla trekking experience where you will visit one of the gorilla families in bwindi for an hour and this will be done on foot. briefing will commence at the offices of the park followed by penetrating into the jungle with park guides who will take you to the location of these great apes. Spend a maximum of an hour in their presence and after trek back to the lodge for another afternoon community excursion.
Afternoon batwa experience
The Batwa experience will reward with knowledge about how these people used to live in the forest, admire their traditional music and dances, hand craft making and making fire traditionally. you will thereafter head to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: After breakfast transfer to Entebbe
After a morning breakfast transfer to Entebbe with the stopover for at the Ugandan equator in masaka kayabwe for equator crossing, take memorable pictures where you will put your two legs on southern and northern hemispheres, take your lunch and proceed to Entebbe which takes about 7-8hours and your flight in the evening and the trip ENDS or overnight at the hotel in Entebbe.
